Same-Day Garage Door Service Across Dallas & DFW
Garage Door Cable Repair in Dallas, Texas
Snapped or frayed cable? Same-day fix.

Garage Door Cable Repair in Dallas, TX

Lift cables carry the full weight of your door alongside the springs. When one frays, slips off the drum or snaps, the door drops on one side, jams in the tracks and can come down hard. We replace cables in matched pairs, re-rig the drums, and re-balance the door so it tracks straight again.

Why cables fail in North Texas

Humidity swings and slab moisture rust the bottom few inches of cable where it meets the bracket. Add a slightly out-of-balance door and the strands fatigue at the drum. Most cables we replace in DFW are between seven and twelve years old.

Never re-rig a cable yourself

Winding a cable back onto a drum requires unloading spring tension first. Doing it with the springs loaded is one of the most common ways homeowners get hurt on a garage door. It's a 45-minute job for a tech with winding bars and a vise grip on the torsion bar.

Cables and springs go together

A snapped cable often means the springs are out of balance or at the end of their cycle life. We check both while we're there and quote them together, so you're not paying a second service call three weeks later.

"Spring snapped at 6am with my car trapped inside. TexPrime had a tech out before 8 and I was on the road by 8:40. Unreal service."
Marcus D. Plano, TX
"Got three quotes for a new insulated door. TexPrime wasn't the cheapest — they were the clearest. Install was flawless and the door is whisper quiet."
Angela R. Frisco, TX
"Opener died on a Sunday night. They answered, showed up, replaced it, and set up the app on my phone. Honest guys, fair price."

Garage Door Cable Repair FAQs

How long does garage door cable replacement take?

Most Dallas cable jobs take 45–90 minutes including re-rigging the drums and re-balancing the door.

Can I still use my door with a broken cable?

No. The door is unbalanced and can slam down or twist out of the tracks. Leave it closed and call us.

Do you replace both cables?

Yes — always in pairs. The second cable is the same age and under the same load.

Why did my cable come off the drum?

Usually a broken spring, an obstruction under the door, or a door that was already out of balance.
